Terms of use

These are the terms that apply when you use the Sourcemap Explorer browser extension or visit source-map.mapree.dev. By installing the extension or browsing the site, you agree to them. They are deliberately short.

Last updated: 2026-05-08

What you can do

Use the extension to inspect any page your browser is already allowed to load: your own sites, sites you have permission to audit, public marketing pages, your competitors’ landing pages, course materials, open-source UIs you want to learn from. The tool is intended for developers, security professionals doing authorised work, students, journalists, and the curious. Nothing in these terms restricts use cases protected by reverse-engineering interoperability or fair-use exceptions in your jurisdiction.

What you should not do

  • Use the extension to attempt access that would violate the destination site’s authentication, anti-fraud, or authorisation controls. The tool cannot bypass those controls, but using any tool to attempt to do so is your responsibility.
  • Resell, repackage, or redistribute the compiled extension as your own product. The extension is free; if you want to fork the source, the repository is on a self-hosted Gitea (linked from the about page), and contributions are welcome.
  • Scrape the /stack catalogue or other pages on this site at a rate that interferes with normal operation. The data we expose comes from public sources (Wappalyzer, the npm registry, wordpress.org); query them directly if you need bulk access.
  • Use the extension to attack, profile, or aggregate data about individual people. The tool reads pages, not users.

Intellectual property

The Sourcemap Explorer extension and the source code that powers this website are licensed by Mapree. Vendored data sources keep their original licenses: the Wappalyzer fingerprint database is MIT, the wordpress.org plugin metadata is GPL-compatible per its API terms, and npm package metadata is governed by the npm Public Registry terms. Names, logos, and trademarks of third-party technologies referenced throughout the site (React, Next.js, WordPress, Yoast, Elementor, etc.) belong to their respective owners and are used here for descriptive identification only.

No warranty

The extension and the website are provided “as is.” The detection pipeline is best-effort: it can be wrong, miss things, or misidentify minified bundles. The technology pages may go out of date as upstream sources change. Do not rely on Sourcemap Explorer for security audits, due-diligence reports, or compliance certifications without independent verification.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the maintainer is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the extension or the website. If you incur direct damages and a court finds liability anyway, total liability is capped at the amount you paid to use the product. The product is free, so that cap is zero.

Termination

You can stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser’s extension settings. The maintainer can withdraw the extension from the Chrome Web Store at any time, in which case existing installs continue to work until your browser removes them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the maintainer’s jurisdiction of residence (Brazil), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you mandatory protections, those protections still apply.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the “Last updated” date at the top will move and the change will be noted on the about page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
